As an email marketer, you will be responsible for maintaining a suppression file of all “Remove Requests” or “Opt-outs” from all email campaigns. Following the transmission of a campaign, the list owner will provide that file to you. You will need to provide this file for any future email campaigns. If you need assistance in storing this file, List Media will gladly store this data for our clients.

E-mail marketing can be a cost effective way to target and reach your prospects. It allows you to send a message quickly and reduce the costs associated with traditional direct mail. If done correctly, many email campaigns enjoy savings of over 50% of these costs.
As fast as an email can be transmitted, is as fast as your first complaint can arrive. Be prepared for some phone calls and email responses that are unfavorable. Not everyone is going to appreciate your offer.
If your offer or company is new to the public, expect no more than a half percent response. Plan to test your offer to several email lists and evaluate what types of lists are providing a better response. Your List Brokerage Specialist will provide you with several list recommendations based on your target markets.
When you rent an email list, you are renting a “Cold” list. You will not get the same kind of response that you find with your House List.

All email is for 1x list rental. Do not buy an email list, as the attrition of many emails is 30% after four months. In 99% of the cases, the list owner will handle the transmission and tracking of your campaign. A campaign tracking report will be forwarded to you 3 business days following the transmission. List Experts will recommend that you schedule your email campaign to go out on a Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday.
Plan to create both a HTML and a Text Message. A text message is necessary as many ISP’s give their members the option to block HTML.
Your email message should contain no more than 6KB. Messages greater than this will hinder the down load time on most dial-ups. Keep in mind that most of us will not wait more than 3 seconds to view an email.
Your email message must include the following:
Expect to host your images on your own server. Some list owners will provide the service, but for a high price.
If you are an experienced Email Marketer, you will need to provide us with your suppression file. This is a list of “Opt-Outs” from previous email campaign. The list owner may charge a fee to suppress these names. Please ask your consultant.
If you are creating your own message, consider using an HTML program such as Adobe Image Ready, Macromedia Dream Weaver or Microsoft Front Page.
All list owners require a sample of your creative prior to approving your order. Your list brokerage specialist will advise you of all necessary items. Approval may take several days
Expect to sign an agreement from the list owner. Typically this outlines the requirements of your creative as well as policies regarding changes.
When ready, please submit your HTML and Text creative to your List Brokerage Specialist as an attachment to an email. In the body of the email, please state the From and Subject information. Please include a list of email names who need to view the test email prior to approval. Your brokerage specialist will forward it on to the list owner who will prepare it for the test phase.
Once the test emails are transmitted, please check that the images and links are working correctly. If there is a problem, please contact your List Brokerage Specialist immediately. When you are satisfied with the test, “Reply To” the email with an “I approve for transmission.” Please cc your List Brokerage Specialist as well.
Notify your List Brokerage Specialist when you receive your email.
Keep an eye on the activity of your website. There’s a good chance that if you experience increased traffic, it is because of your campaign.
Please be patient! Give your campaign 3 business days! This will allow the email user the chance to act on your email. The campaign tracking report will be emailed to you at the end of 3 business days.
The list owner will provide you with a file of “Remove Requests” or “Opt-Outs” from the campaign. You will be required to maintain this file. When you rent another email list, you need to provide this list to the list owner to suppress the names from their file. List Media will gladly store the suppression files of our clients.
